A Geographic Focus

GoldON Map Ontario Canada 300x290As the name suggests, GoldON is a company focused on gold and mineral exploration in Ontario, Canada.

A province with a rich history of gold exploration and mining that dates back to the 1860s, Ontario is Canada’s leading gold-mining jurisdiction, having produced more than 200 million ounces of the yellow metal over the last 150+ years.

Mining plays a pivotal role in the Ontario economy, with 35 mines currently operating in the province, including 16 gold mines. Last year, an estimated 31,000 people were employed directly, and another 47,000 indirectly in Ontario’s mineral industry cluster, which includes: operating mines, exploration and development services and supplies, finance and accounting, engineering, environmental consulting, and corporate offices. Notably, the average weekly wage in Ontario mining is 70% higher than the average industrial wage in the province.

Ontario is also one of the safest mining jurisdictions globally, and mining is one of the safest industries in Ontario, achieving a 96% improvement in lost time injury frequency over the past 30 years.

In 2022, Ontario contributed 22% of Canada's mineral production, valued at $13.5 billion. The province was Canada’s largest producer of gold (41%), nickel (45%), platinum group metals (77%), and second largest producer of copper (32%)1.

Equally important to GoldON's success is its ability to access investment capital when required, and the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and the Toronto Venture Exchange (TSXV) are arguably the global gateway to mineral resource financing.

The TSX and the TSXV are home to ~40% of the world's publicly traded mining and exploration companies and 48% of the 5,200+ mineral exploration projects held by TSX and TSXV listed companies are located outside Canada. TSX and TSXV-listed mining and exploration companies raised $ 45.3 billion in the past five years through over 6,700 financings. Globally, that represents 48% of the number of public mining and exploration financings completed and 36% of the mining equity capital raised2
